Pick of the week: P.E.A.R.L. – Internal Pressure (Pole Group, PoleGroup51)
Spain’s P.E.A.R.L. returns to Pole Group to showcase his ‘Internal Pressure’ EP with three hard hitting techno cuts and Soma producer Tensal on remix duty.
After a string of releases on his own Falling Ethics imprint – including last year’s debut album ‘Temptation Through Impatience’ – P.E.A.R.L. returns home with his ‘Internal Pressure’ EP.
The high-octane ‘Internal Pressure’ combines a heavily distorted, thumping kick with metallic resonances. ‘Dissolution’ delivers a throbbing bass line and warped, frenzied synths with evolving drones and textures that change throughout the arrangement before German techno veteran Tensal offers his twist on the track with a more prominent, heady drums alongside a rugged sub.
Rounding off the package, ‘Exceed by Delicacy’ uses stereo delayed sounds together with airy, ethereal pads that unfold throughout an amalgamation of underpinning effects.
