Kmyle – Keroual EP (Astropolis Records, AR12)

Our Saturday selection:
Kmyle – Keroual EP (Astropolis Records, AR12)

Young and exciting techno producer Kmyle returns to French label Astropolis Records with three fresh tunes that are both technically excellent and emotionally elegant, and come with a remix from French veteran Zadig.
Toulouse born Kmyle is a real master of his studio gear, someone with plenty of deft technical skill as well as a wealth of ideas and inspirations to draw on. He always infuses his work with plenty of these and since 2015 it has come on respected labels like Clergy, MORD and ARTS Collective. This new EP follows an acclaimed debut album on Skryptöm Records that picked up support from various names in and around the techno scene.

Opener ‘Keroual’ is a beautiful trip to a large electronic universe full of fantasy. It has emotive melodies and light chords that make for an enchanting and meditative track, as well-suited for the dance floor as they are for home listening. The tempo rises on ‘Telegraph’, an alluringly dark track with undulating grooves drawing you into an evil dance with a tense melody line and rumbling bass that will hypnotise all who hear it.

The quality and invention stays high on the flip with ‘Syncopa’, a big, driving tune with powerful kicks and booming energy that is augmented by the bright, fizzing synths and euphoric chords that will get hands in the air. Last but not least, long time French techno champion Zadig brings a brutal and gloomy remix that nods to his hardcore days and has an old school rave vibe that is easy to love.
