Marcal – Reduction Pt. 3 (Rekids Special Projects, RSPX30)
Marcal returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects with the stomping five-track EP ‘Reduction Pt. 3’ this July.
With previous releases picking up heavy rotation from Truncate, Len Faki, Marcel Dettmann, and more, Brazilian producer Marcal shows no signs of slowing down with ‘Reduction Pt. 3’, his third appearance on Radio Slave’s techno-focused Rekids Special Projects imprint.
‘Cyclic Voltammetry’ opens the release with a barrage of hypnotic modulating FM tones and pounding kicks, before ‘Good Things’ brings trippy bleeps and phasing stereo FX across loose, shuffling percussion. The third track, ‘Droste Effect’ sees droning atmospherics and crunchy drums provide a bed for wriggling synths and eerie pads to shine through.
‘The Interloper’ follows suit, ramping up the intensity for a heavy heads-down affair, before closing track ‘Matsu’ twists dub-techno chords into a fast-paced stomper, offering a final dose of dancefloor artillery, rounding out another outstanding release from a rising star in techno.
Set up as the harder-hitting sister label to the lauded Rekids imprint, Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects has released music from Marco Faraone, SRVD, Anika Kunst, and more since its inception in 2017.
