ISF Radio Podcast #030 w/ DJ Psycho-UK (Southeast Asia Special: Vietnam)

Two months have passed since I am back from Asia – two very intense months: I finished my upcoming EP ‘Valley of Darkness’, put out a lot of podcasts of this Southeast-Asia special series, the Fehler Musik podcast is back online and now finally, finally can start with moving into video production and work fully on the electronic underground documentation about Southeast-Asia.

It will be hell of a job because of 500 GB of video raw footage, but it will also be hell of fun because all these beautiful memories will come back and I will get reminded why I am so grateful for this tour and trip.

Because of this humongous amount of data, I will divide the documentation into three parts: part one is Vietnam, part two Thailand and in part three I will put Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia together. In our podcast today we present Tariq aka DJ Psycho-UK. I met him during a non-stopping weekend in the heat of Saigon’s party nights, and this guy has quite a history. We did the interview together Marco Mei (see podcast #025) on the rooftop of the Arcan club (www.instagram.com/arcansaigon/), where I played my very first show in Ho Chi Minh City, and also the second a week later with Marco. Hi, this is DJ Psycho, hello everyone and thanks to itsoundsfuture, Berlin for the Podcast.
This show is being recorded from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where I currently reside and run an Event management company and Radio Station called Scientific Sound Asia. I am originally from London in the UK, and that’s where my musical influences started with the birth of Hip Hop, House, Hardcore and the Drum and Bass scene.
Today’s show is going to be around up of the Deep/Tech House sounds that I have been spinning at events here in Saigon over the last couple of years, and have influenced me the most, hope you enjoy the show!

DJ Psycho-UK has been DJing since the age of 14, when he got his first pair of turntables to explore his curiosity in Hip Hop, Reggae and Soul Music. DJ Psycho is a regular DJ in Vietnam and plays a variety of styles depending on the promoter and genre of the DJs he has visiting for his Promotion Company Scientific Sound Asia. Hip Hop, Reggae, Drum and Bass and Deep House are the main genres he plays and he has an ability to get the crowd moving.

Starting off in his bedroom in East London with a pair of Soundlab DLP1’s and a 4 track mixer, he was around for the birth of House, Hip Hop, and the Drum and Bass scene which are now global.

He has performed with some well-known artists including Spikey Tee, Jstar, JFB, Leeroy Thornhill, Graham Gold, and DJ Randall. He has Dj-ed at some of the best venues in London including Scala, Bagleys Film Studios, 491 Gallery, 291 Gallery and 333 amongst others.
He has DJed at many venues in Vietnam including Arcan, Piu Piu, Basement, Indika, Cargo Remote, Pogo Beach Club, Dragon Beach and others.

He has djed on some of the leading pirate radio stations in London including Axe Fm and Fantasy FM and now does shows on his own radio Station Scientific Sound Asia. He was also part of the infamous Outcry Syndicate and performed at OTT parties and London Overground which brought warehouse parties back Into the fold in the UK after the Criminal Justice Act. He has DJ-ed extensively in the UK, West Indies, Australia, Vietnam and Asia.
