Tracklist: Julian Jeweil – Rumble (Minus, MINUSMAX27)
04. Funky Skull
01. Rumble: Boomy bass run, minimal yet fast forward drums – this combination gets my attention right from the start, immidiately knowing you are in the Minus world. Distorted drony horns present themselves majestically in the room which is characterized by its great depth. And from that distance, dark synths and siren appear to conclude the track.
02. Frida: Harmonious arps leading into requesting bass stabs, onbeat-moving bass marches into the scene. Soon after an alluring melody surrounds us and flirts silky with the bass while rising to the top.
03. Mistral: A dictating groove takes you hostage, its masked in a classic 909 fashion. High pitched toms are calling for the resolution / the swat team, which arrives as an extended groove soon after to clear the scene.
04. Funky Skull: A vocal spiral sucks you in, deeper and deeper… at the very bottom a warm wave of simple funkyness is waiting, on top surfing a stripped down Roland drum rhythm. Classic and classy.
Conclusion: Jeweil did a great job, super stable Minus release.
