Cleric – The Key Of Night (Figure, FIGURE72)

“Young UK-based producer Cleric has established himself not only as a bona fide new talent and key player in the International Techno world, but also as a prolific artist on Figure.” Yep, his latest EP “The Key of Night” for Figure reflects this statement positively. Could be an influence of his hometown Manchester, with quite a history thinking of the Hacienda and lots of other astonishing artists. So let’s get into prayer mode and listen to Cleric.

Tracklist: Cleric – The Key Of Night (Figure, FIGURE72)

01. The Key Of Night
02. The Key Of Dawn
03. ZeroSevenTwo
04. Solar Fields

01. The Key Of Night
The gates of this techno church open slowly, and you enter, impatient and curious. It’s a large, dark cathedral, and the atmosphere is slightly eerie, but somehow you feel good … yes, this is the way churches work. You discover quickly the organist: he plays a catchy synth/chord progression, and you follow instantly, like a sheep. But then the progression changes; the Holy Mass turns into a frenetic gospel crowd, praising the techno lord while turning from Amen into Halle-fucking-julah!

02. The Key Of Dawn
An ebb-and-flow symphony between deep bass and melodious strings.

03. ZeroSevenTwo
Higher spirits are calling for your attention: they turn high energy drums into a deep undertow where nothing more is needed to create an infectious rhythm. Minimal elements shape together to build the highest possible impact. Wave after wave of sweeping percussive blows.

04. Solar Fields
The atmosphere absorbs and surrounds you quickly. Memories of Daft Punk’s Alive (Homework) arise.
The warm kick drum and soulful bass protect you against any negative emotions, adverse thoughts, or simply just bad music. It’s more of a conquest than a journey, you feel strong and sovereign – this inherent funky groove lets you believe you can seize everything in your path. A fulminant conclusion of the EP.

Conclusion:
The variety and diversity of the tracks make this EP an auspicious portrayal of this rising producer. It’s the kind of EP where you like and play all the tracks. So go get it, you won’t regret it.
