Mad or Nah! – Gaston Zani (Prospect Records, PSR072)

Pick of the week:
Gaston Zani with Mad or Nah! on Prospect Records, PSR072.

Press release:
In this oversaturated market it’s really hard to find an artist who can provide a package of tracks wisely linked between them for a single release. Hailing from the beautiful Argentina, Gaston Zani is an experienced artist that already showed his talent on Toolroom, Transmit , Agile, Loose and his very own Addeepted, just to name a few.
His debut on Prospect Records “Mad Or Nah EP” is a statement of Zani ‘s own musical taste: “Atmospheric” and “Mad Or Nah” remind us that Techno should be dark, aggressive and capable to move our wildest side. Fortified by a dope rework from the italian Tech-House maestro Tony Dee, this is another precious gem for the ravers.

Tracklist: Gaston Zani – Mad or Nah! (Prospect Records, PSR072)

01. Mad Or Nah!
02. Mad Or Nah! (Tony Dee Remix)
03. Atmospheric

Fabio Neural – Shy EP (Intec, ID133)

Pick of the week:
Fabio Neural with Shy EP on Intec Digital, ID133.

Press release:
Carl Cox is an iconic figurehead of the electronic music industry, whose influential legacy includes his much famed label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

The new Intec release is from Fabio Neural who is an Intec regular and has also featured music on imprints such as Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, Kaiserdisco’s KD Music, Josh Wink’s Ovum and Adam Beyer’s label Truesoul.

Hotly tipped, Fabio Neural is a producer based in Italy but he also spent some years in Spain which led to him hosting a techno focused radio show for Ibiza Global Radio. He also travels the world as a popular DJ and regularly appears on the same club line-up’s as scene leaders such as Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing and Sven Väth.

An exciting talent, this four track solo EP is a fine example of why Italian born Fabio has earned international respect and a fan base that spans continents. Track one ‘Shy’ is spacious techno with an understated sound led by a bubbling acid-line that steers the track with purposeful momentum tailored for the dancefloor. Vocal stabs washed in delay flutter across the mix to create a spacious atmosphere, and clap rhythms add a sense of dramatic tension.

Second is ‘Whatever’ that has looped vocals, both uplifting and intense with a held tension ready to erupt. Propelled by the pulsating bassline, this track follows the philosophy of less is more to deliver a compelling slice of Techno gold. Without breaking boundaries, this track refines what many others struggle to achieve, and is a must have DJ tool perfect for peak time plays.

Tracklist: Fabio Neural – Shy EP (Intec, ID133)

02. Whatever

Radio Slave (Floorplan Remixes) – Feel the Same (Rekids, REKIDS107)

Pick of the week:
Radio Slave with Feel the Same on Rekids, REKIDS107.

Press release:
Floorplan delivers two excellent reinterpretations of Radio Slave ‘Feel The Same’, the title track from the Rekids founder’s forthcoming album. Made up of former Underground Resistance member Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric, the Detroit duo needs little introduction and last year saw the release of their illustrious album ‘Victorious’ on Hood’s M-Plant.
The first remix of ‘Feel The Same’ extends to eight minutes long and is a journey; incorporating echoing chords, intricate percussion and a medley of esoteric effects whilst cackling laughter ebbs in and out of the mix. Meanwhile, the flip sees a more up front interpretation with its heady hook, rolling drums and energetic claps

Techno Producer Mooz Opens New Digital Record Label In Alicante

For over 20 years he’s worked with some great DJs and producers and feels that starting his own label is a natural progression, but still a big leap to be making. The mission for launching the label is to leave the producer‘s mark on the history of techno.

LPZ, Rush Plus – RPDC003 (Rush Plus DC, RPDC003)

Pick of the week:
LPZ, Rush Plus with RPDC003 on Rush Plus DC, RPDC003.

Press release:
Washington DC duo Rush Plus prepare the third outing on their eponymous Techno imprint in a split four track release featuring Paraguay trio LPZ.

Real names Jackson Ryland and Justin Nouhra, the burgeoning producers have been flying the flag for Washington’s electronic music scene for quite some time but it was only a year ago that they launched their Rush Plus artist and label project. However, in such a short time the first two releases have gained support from the upper echelons of Techno, with names such as Rodhad, Ben Klock, DJ Spider, Ben Sims, Slam, Answer Code Request, Dasha Rush, DJ Deep, and many more getting behind the talented pair.

Likewise, Latin America’s LPZ – aka Cosmo Lopez, P Lopez and Octavio – are doing the same thing for their native home of Asunción, Paraguay. The collective has gone global, appearing in London, Hong Kong, New York, Hanoi and Barcelona, not to mention performing a live set in Berlin clubbing mecca Berghain. When not appearing on labels like Voight, the group have been releasing on their own self-titled label that’s also featured South American talents like Gonzalo MD and Alex AQ.

LPZ handle the record’s A-side, inaugurating matters with ‘Snooze’; a raw and physical workout that blends metallic percussion and a cavernous low-end whilst trippy elements ebb in and out of the mix. Robust kicks and intricate melodies then form ‘Temp 8’ as dusky atmospherics contribute to an overall menacing aesthetic. On the flip, label founders Rush Plus serve up a percussive number titled ‘Double Life’ filled with breaks and stuttering synths until the twisted and rumbling ‘Working’ concludes matters with warped notes and echoing effects.

Tracklist: LPZ, Rush Plus – RPDC003 (Rush Plus DC, RPDC003)

01. LPZ – Snooze
02. LPZ – Temp8
03. Rush Plus – Double Life
04. Rush Plus – Working

GHOST303 – Mapping A Messiah (EP BXR Records, BXR002P)

Pick of the weekend:
GHOST303 with Mapping A Messiah EP on BXR Records, BXR002P.

Press release:
The recently relaunched BXR label continues to soundtrack the future with a new EP from diverse and multi-disciplinary artist Ghost303.
Ghost303 is a name that you might not immediately know, but rest assured this Bulgarian creative has excelled not only as a music producer but also as a sculptor, visual artist and painter, and has exhibited his works around the world. Since 2000, he has made music under multiple monikers (and as part of groups like The Third Man and Underhill touching on everything from d&b to Balkan jazz and theatre soundtracks) but this is his first foray into techno. It finds him fusing classic Roland TR-303 lines with hypnotic drums and off kilter effects to create an original and engaging EP of floor focused techno.
First up is the grinding and raw stomper ‘Aesthet X’. With its churning drums and squelching synths it is a dark and dystopian bit of techno for big warehouse spaces. Textured and dynamic throughout, it’s a real brain frying track. The heavyweight ‘Focault’ then performs macho techno gymnastics for seven minutes, with smooth sweeping synths off-set by more coarse claps as the whole thing wraps you up in post- apocalyptic sound.
The slick title track is a journeying techno groove with haunting pads and sirens way off in the distance. The whole thing feels lonely and urban and full of late night menace. Things get wild again with the wonderfully wonky ‘Punish1970’, which is a six minute freakout with a prying, tightly looped synth melting your mind as industrial percussive sounds and dark vocals add to the intensity. Last of all is the excellent ‘Order of Things’, another edgy and unsettling techno tune that gets you on your toes with its suspenseful pads and fizzing stabs.

This is high octane, high impact techno designed to disorientate dance floors, and it does so with real style.

Tracklist: GHOST303 – Mapping A Messiah (EP BXR Records,BXR002P)

01. Aesthet X
02. Focault
03. Mapping A Messiah
04. Punish 1970
